Despite her contemporary worldwide acclaim, Beryl Cook began her career as an accidental artist. In fact, she wasn't even aware of her talents as a painter until the day she purchased a set of watercolors for her son's birthday. Upon showing him how to use his new gift, she surprised herself at how easily she was able to manipulate the brush. After noticing his wife's talents, Cook's husband, John, purchased her another set. She used it to create her very first portrait, which still hangs in the Cook family residence to this day.

Although her family was enthusiastic about her work, Beryl Cook did not begin to receive outside interest until 1975. At that time, she and her husband ran a boarding house whose walls Cook filled with her paintings. It was only after a friend convinced her to try her hand in the marketplace (and then managed to sell her work) that Cook realized she could turn her passion into a profit. Subsequent sell-out exhibitions and art books have turned Beryl Cook into a household name.

Here at Greg Lane Fine Arts, we celebrate Beryl Cook as an extraordinary contemporary artist. Her pieces represent humorous slices of life captured from a unique perspective and we are pleased to offer a vast selection of lithographs.
