GREG LANE FINE ARTS
Peter Max

Few artists have achieved international acclaim and notoriety like Peter Max. An artist whose colorfully unique creative style was credited for illustratively shaping the '60s, Peter Max is truly an artistic legend. Not surprisingly, we at Greg Lane Fine Arts are honored to host many of Max's works in our gallery.

Peter Max's creative vision was undoubtedly fueled by his adventurous childhood. Born on October 19, 1937 in Berlin, Germany, Max spent the first 10 years of his life in Shanghai. From there, he relocated to numerous exotic locales including Tibet, Africa, Israel, and India before finally settling in America in 1953. After years of dabbling in artistic expression, Max received his formal training at the renowned Art Student's League in Manhattan.

Like many of his contemporaries, Max achieved exceptional success as a commercial illustrator. Max and his work were featured on many album and book sleeves, and even graced the cover of LIFE magazine. After enjoying nearly a lifetime of such success, Max retreated to his studio in exclusive pursuit of purist creations.

As host to many of Max's freelance pieces, we at Greg Lane Fine Arts consider ourselves very fortunate. The wide range of works we offer represent only a fraction of the numerous artistic contributions Peter Max has offered the world, and yet they are extraordinary as individual pieces. Peter Max enthusiasts are encouraged to browse our online gallery and see for themselves the beauty of his recent work.
