GREG LANE FINE ARTS
Royo Art

A painting master of the highest order, Royo's ability to convey the atmosphere and mood of a setting through paint is one that few artists have ever been able to grasp. Here at Greg Lane Fine Arts, we consider Royo one of our favorite artists. His art transcends both time and style, and is certain to garner praise and admirers for decades to come.

Royo was born in 1945 in Valencia, Spain. Named Jose Mateu San Hilario, the boy who would later be universally called "Royo" got an early start as an artist. As early as nine years of age, Royo's father employed private tutors to kick-start his son's artistic education. From painting to sculpting, Royo was creating multi-dimensional works of art before he was 10 years old.

Although he could have easily relied on his painting and sculpting talents to carry his success, Royo was not satisfied. Subsequently, he became involved in set design and graphic illustration during his 20s. These extracurricular activities did not distract Royo from his love of private painting, however. He continued to participate in competitions and exhibitions, which later led to many royal commissions (including portraits of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia).

Today, Royo's work graces the halls of some of the world's most prestigious public and private collections. At Greg Lane Fine Arts, we are thrilled to host a large selection of Royo art. Our assortment of serigraphs is one of the finest in the country. We hope you will continue to browse our online gallery and see for yourself.
